i write (in Vietnamese) imagines and constructs an exhibition of word-objects and letter-beings born from a play between texts and images and sounds in various materials and mediums, along with poetic prints of young (Vietnamese) writers and artists in Vietnam. All compositions and artworks in this publication and exhibition are newly hatched and first published.
 

The series of I write (in Vietnamese) moves between two places:

• 01 - 05 March, 2021, Goethe Institut, 56-58 Nguyễn Thái Học, Hà Nội: exhibition and book-launch. The events are part of CULTURE LAB program, Goethe Institut.
• 15 - 20 March, 2021, Tổ Chim Xanh cafe, 13 Đặng Dung, Hà Nội: exhibition, group discussion and poetry reading and performance. The events are part of “In Progress” series with support from British Council.

The authors, translators and artists in the exhibition and the publication are:

Duy Quang Mai

is from Hanoi, Vietnam. His poems have been published or are forthcoming from The American Poetry Review, The Lifted Brow, Overland and others. He is the author of the chapbooks ‘Homeward’ and 'Journals to' (Story Factory, 2018-19).



Hải Anh (b. 2000) currently lives in Hanoi and studies at Hanoi University of Education.

linh san (b.1998)

earned a bachelor's degree in Literature from Hanoi National University of Education and currently works at several art spaces and libraries in Hanoi. She lives in a garden with three miracle cats and spends most of her time surveying, reading, working with (moving) image & poetry prints.



Nhã Thuyên

Nhã Thuyên's most recent books are bất\ \tuẫn: những hiện diện [tự-] vắng trong thơ Việt (self-published with support from the Goethe Institut, Vietnam) and its English edition: un\ \martyred: [self-]vanishing presences in Vietnamese poetry (Roofbook, USA, 2019), and moon fevers (Tilted Axis Press, UK, 2019).  With Kaitlin Rees, she founded AJAR in 2014, a micro bilingual literary journal-press, a precariously online, printed space for poetic exchange. She’s been talking to walls and soliloquies some nonsense when having no other emergencies of life to deal with.

born January 30, 1982 at the sea area of Hậu Lộc, Thanh Hóa and currently lives in Hanoi. He is the author of the epic poetry book Dark posthumous works (Writer’s Union Press, 2011). His poetry has mainly appeared in online literary magazines Tiền Vệ and Da Màu. A recent collection of his poetry, Hãy nở hoặc lụi tàn was published by AJAR Press in 2015.



Chau Hoang lives in Hanoi, she is an art curator and a freelance translator.

ThuyDuong (@popusvine) practices trans-disciplinary visual mediums (such as film photography, performance and poetry). She graduated from Hanoi National University of Education, majoring in Literature and Methodologies. She’s conducting several personal translation projects and writing on her personal blog: popusvine.wordpress.com
