The Goethe-Institut Sydney is seeking to fill the position of an Educational Service Manager from 01 June 2024. The scope of employment is full-time, 38 hours per week. The position is divisible and part time employment is possible.
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institution of the Federal Republic of Germany operating worldwide. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. In addition, we provide a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information about its cultural, social, and political life. Our international field of activity requires a great openness to other cultures and a high intercultural competence.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Development, planning and implementation of educational services for teachers and students of German in Australia (specifically in NSW, QLD, ACT, NT)
- Maintenance and expansion of relations with educational authorities and educational partners in Australia, such as departments of education, associations, and networks of German teachers etc.
- Conception, planning and implementation of professional development activities for teachers of German, such as conferences, training events and online modules, including scholarships
- Professional consultation for teachers of German, principals, and educational partners
- Conception, planning and implementation of activities for students of German in primary and secondary schools, such as competitions, workshops, cultural events, scholarships etc.
- Assistance with the preparation of financial plans, budgeting, and reporting
- Advertising measures for learning German as a foreign language and public relations for educational services in Australia
- Supervision of interns
Requirements:
- Higher education degree in a relevant field (i.e. Education, Modern Languages etc.),
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in a relevant field
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in both German and English
- Very good knowledge of the Australian educational system
- Experience in teaching German as a foreign language
- Project management experience
- Experience with relevant digital teaching and learning tools
- Analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong social skills, team player, flexible, open-minded
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, independently and in a team
- Readiness for intercultural learning and for expanding knowledge about new teaching and learning concepts and methods
