Head of Language Course Department

The Goethe-Institut Australia is looking for a Head of Language Course Department from 01 June 2024 or earlier. The position is provisionally limited to one year. Scope of employment: 100%(38 hours per week). The position is divisible and can be filled full-time or part-time. The place of employment is either Melbourne or Sydney.

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany, which operates worldwide. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordination of language courses and examinations at the Goethe-Institut Australia
  • Planning and evaluation of the course programs
  • Continuous optimisation of the portfolio, especially in the online segment
  • Planning and control of the use of resources
  • Planning, organisation and evaluation of in-service training for teachers
  • Recruitment and training of new teachers
  • Language course and exam marketing
Requirements
  • University degree in a relevant field, i.e. Education, Modern Languages, Business Administration etc.
  • Many years of professional experience in educational work, preferably in the context of German as a foreign language
  • In depth knowledge of modern language teaching theory and methodology
  • Extensive teaching experience, familiarity with digital learning and teaching formats
  • Strategie and economical thinking, managerial skills, marketing experience
  • Strong social skills and high intercultural competence
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong customer orientation, empathy and confidence in dealing with a diverse range of customers
  • Confident in appearance and negotiation skills with partners and customers
  • German spoken and written proficiency at native speaker level, English at level C1

A valid Australian work visa is a requirement for employment (applications from holders of "Work and Holiday" and "Student" visas will not be considered).
Remuneration: AUD 85,195 p.a. plus superannuation (or pro rata if the position is filled part-time).

Further benefits: 25 days annual leave, 25 days personal leave, 17.5%leave loading.
