- Part of series: Christopher Kulendran Thomas in Sydney
Christopher Kulendran Thomas is a German-based artist of Eelam Tamil descent, who spent his formative years in London, after his family left Sri Lanka following increasing ethnic violence.
He uses artificial intelligence to probe the fictions of Western individualism and the lasting impacts of imperialism, exploring how images shape political memory and erasure.
His work The Finesse is shown at the MCA in Sydney within the exhibition Data Dreams: Art and AI, which features a total of ten artists, including another Germany-based artist in Hito Steyerl, as well as Angie Abdilla, Kate Crawford and Vladan Joler, Fabien Giraud, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Agnieszka Kurant, Trevor Paglen, and Anicka Yi.
