The Goethe-Institut is proud to participate in the 2023 edition of Nuit blanche as part of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE and to celebrate German expressionism in the 1920s.

The 1920 expressionist silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a complex, confusing and frightening masterpiece. The 2019 digital production Cesare's Dream - In the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari pays homage to the immersive aspects of this film using new technologies. - In this 360° film, the perspective determines one’s view of the expressionist and dreamlike scenery.

silicon beasts
Silicon Beats is a performance and improvisation collective for electro-numeric music founded in 2016. The project consists of around 15 musicians from different backgrounds and brings together artists from the electronic scene in Montreal around performance, improvisation and exchange. In a time when machines are starting to think, Silicon Beats puts humans back at the center of machine-based creation, offering ever-changing immersive shows adapted to the environment and guided by the improvisation and chemistry of its members. Silicon Beats is committed to being close to the audience and sees itself as a vector for the popularization of electronic and digital design tools. The collective offers musical performances with its "house band", open improvisation evenings and film concerts.
