Presented this spring at Cannes in the section Un certain regard, Ulrich Köhler’s follow-up to Sleeping Sickness (Silver Bear, Berlinale 2012) is a tale of one man’s renewal through a human apocalypse. Armin, at a professional and personal low in life, walks out of his grandmother’s home to a world bereft of life. Despite never learning the causes of this catastrophe, Armin quickly starts adapting and creating a new paradise for himself.
