In 2022, the Montreal Goethe-Institut celebrated its 60th anniversary. This year, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Cinémathèque québécoise, we'd like to highlight the long-standing collaboration between our two institutions. The screening of German cinema at the Cinémathèque québécoise or the Goethe-Institut has often been a collaborative effort. The move of the Goethe-Institut to its current address led to the dissolution of our historical film archives, and many historical film prints were bequeathed to the Cinémathèque. Part of this collection is now presented in this program. As part of this series, you can discover the following German films: Lisbon Story by Wim Wenders, The Three from the Filling Station by Wilhelm Thiele, The Marriage of Maria Braun by R. W. Fassbinder, The Hunger Years: In a Land of Plenty by Jutta Brückner und The Power of Emotion by Alexander Kluge.
