"Cabaret" @ Toronto Outdoor Picture Show
Bob Fosse’s masterpiece is by now a classic. The film is set in 1930s Berlin, a place and era of stark contrast. While the Nazis gradually rise to power and threaten anyone who doesn't fit in, bohemians and dreamers flock to cabaret theatres that embrace difference and hedonism – a lost universe. "Cabaret" invites us to the fabulous “Kit Kat Klub”, an underground haven where the fantastical, queer and macabre are celebrated.
Exhibition: Faces behind the voices
“Faces behind the Voices” highlights a profession in the film industry that often goes unnoticed: dubbing actors. After intensive research, Berlin-based photographer Marco Justus Schöler portrayed Germany’s thirty most familiar voices. The Goethe Media Space will display two of them, combining large-format photographs with German audio samples.
