SACO7 Séptima Semana de Arte Contemporáneo, invita a artistas a participar de la convocatoria 2018 para la exposición principal denominada Origen y mito, a desarrollarse en el Muelle Histórico Melbourne Clark de Antofagasta, Chile. Los creadores seleccionados, junto con todos los gastos pagados, contarán con una semana de residencia en ISLA, Instituto Superior Latinoamericano de Arte, con el propósito de materializar el montaje de sus obras, además de un honorario. Posterior a la inauguración, participarán en el viaje de contextualización a Quillagua, el lugar reconocido por NASA como el lugar más árido del planeta.
CONDICIONES
Pueden participar artistas visuales de cualquier nacionalidad. Un jurado seleccionará a siete ganadores, de acuerdo con la calidad de las propuestas recibidas, su pertinencia a la línea curatorial y al espacio exterior a intervenir: el Muelle Histórico Melbourne Clark de Antofagasta.
SACO7 ORIGEN Y MITO
La presente convocatoria está abierta a artistas profesionales y autodidactas, sin límite de edad, formación recibida, experiencia profesional, dedicación laboral y otro factor. El principal criterio que se someterá a evaluación es la calidad de la propuesta, su viabilidad y pertinencia.
Resumen curatorial
Todos necesitamos echar una mirada hacia atrás para poder respondernos a las más comunes preguntas existenciales. El “¿quién soy? Depende en gran parte de “¿dónde vengo?”, aunque la relación entre ambas interrogantes resulta mucho más compleja que la simple causa y el efecto. ¿Qué tanto influye lo pretérito, lo genealógico, el saber quién era mi abuelo, en lo que proyecto ser?
Somos mestizos todos, y mientras más mestizo, más origen. Que bien por lo pocos que son puros, especialmente si son indígenas. Son como los árboles nativos, bellos, y cada vez más escasos. Esperar que mantengan la pureza de la etnia, sería, cuestionar su libertad. Es natural que despurifiquen su ADN, abuelos y abuelas que hicieron, fortaleciendo de esta manera nuestros sistemas inmunológicos y capacidades intelectuales, pero ante todo aportando a la diversidad de culturas, etnias, religiones y convicciones de las cuales está compuesto hoy cada uno de nosotros.
Resulta justo que podamos hoy, como personas, familias, barrios, ciudades, etnias, regiones y naciones, influir en nuestro origen, y no solamente recibirlo. Nos enseñaron que somos parte activa del presente y parte pasiva del pasado. Nada más falso. No hay nada más propio para la creatividad que la historia.
DOCUMENTOS PARA POSTULACIÓN A LA RESIDENCIA DE INVESTIGACIÓN Y PRODUCCIÓN INMIGRACIÓN – ORIGEN Y MITO
1. Fotocopia simple de la página con datos personales del pasaporte vigente, con fecha vencimiento posterior al 30 de agosto de 2018.
2. Nota biográfica de 1400 a 1500 caracteres con espacios en Word, Arial 12, formato carta + link a página web, si existe.
3. Portafolio con máximo de 10 obras recientes, máximo 3MB en pdf.
4. Idea general y descripción de la propuesta de la investigación y producción de la obra, máximo 1000 caracteres con espacios y título.
5. El postulante está libre de adjuntar cualquier otro documento que estime que pueda aportar al análisis de su propuesta, no superior a 3MB. En caso de videos, puede adjuntar links.

CONTEMPORARY ART WEEK SACO7 ORIGIN AND MYTH OPENS INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL FOR THIS YEAR’S VERSION IN THE DESERT IN THE NORTH OF CHILE

SACO7, the 7th week of Contemporary Art, invites artists to participate in the 2018 call for the main exhibition called Origin and Myth, to be held at the Melbourne Clark Historic Dock in Antofagasta, Chile. The selected creators, together with all the expenses paid, will have a week of residence at ISLA, Latin-American College of Art, with the purpose of materializing the assembly of their works, as well as an honorary. After the inauguration, they will participate in the journey of the contextualization of Quillagua, the place acknowledged by NASA as the driest place on the planet.
CONDITIONS
Visual Artists from all nations can participate. A jury will select seven winners, according to the quality of the received proposals, their relevance to the curatorial line and to the outer space to intervene: the Melbourne Clark Historic Dock of Antofagasta.
SACO7 ORIGIN AND MYTH
This call is open to professional and self-taught artists, without age limit, training received, professional experience, work dedication and other factors. The main criterion of the evaluation will be the quality of the proposal, its viability and relevance.
Curatorial Summary
We all need to look back to be able to answer the most common existential questions. The "who am I? It depends largely on "where do I come from?", although the relation between the two questions is much more complex than their simple cause and effect. How much does the past affect, the origins, knowledge of who my grandfather was, in what I project to be?
We are all mestizos, and the more I mix, the more the origin there is. How good for the few that are pure, especially when they are indigenous. They are like native trees, beautiful, and increasingly scarce. Expecting to maintain the purity of the ethnic group would be to question their freedom. It is natural that they de-purify their DNA, thus strengthening our immunological systems and intellectual capacities. But above all they contributed to the diversity of cultures, ethnic groups, religions and convictions of which each one of us is composed today.
It is just that we today as people, families, neighborhoods, cities, ethnic groups, regions and nations, can influence our origin and not just receive it. They taught us that we are an active part of the present and a passive part of the past. Nothing is further from the truth. There is nothing that makes up creativity more than history.
