Following the great success of the 4 previous editions (2012, 2013, 2015, 2017) the Arts Department of the European University Cyprus is organizing the 5th International Motion Festival 2019. German short films are prominent in the programme of this year.

The International Motion Festival has been established as the platform for showcasing innovative motion design films, spanning from motion graphics, to 2D and 3D animation, video art, and shorts, in the wider Mediterranean region. Each year the festival aims to present innovative and groundbreaking approaches in the field of motion art and video, experimental techniques and creative takes on matters of society, culture, relationships, politics and the economy, science, imagination and art. Three consecutive times, the EU has awarded the International Motion Festival the EFFE label, including it among the European festivals "that stand for artistic quality and have significant impact on the local, national and international level".

The IMF 2019 will host 15 speakers and four masterclasses and workshops from Europe, USA, Canada and Cyprus. Out of the 213 films from 56 countries, 20 films are nominated for awards. 8 of these candidate films are German:

  • Golden Girl - Chiara Fleischhacker
