The lives of a couple leading an underground existence is turned on its head when they break a taboo and have a child. As a result of having parents who lead underground lives, her childhood and adolescence are missing vital things that others take for granted. Her parents try to establish a legal identity for themselves, and she turns their existence on its head when she falls in love.
