The Goethe-Institut Cyprus presents its upcoming open-air film series, titled Sommerkino: Between Waves. This year’s film series is dedicated to water in many forms: as a physical force, a border, a refuge, a threat, a memory. The programme invites audiences to follow these different cinematic streams, to feel how water can shape lives, and to reflect on the fluidity of identity, belonging, and change. Between Waves starts with the film 22 Lengths, directed by Mia Maariel Meyer and based on Caroline Wahl’s debut novel by the same title.

22 Lengths (original title: 22 Bahnen) tells the story of two sisters who, despite the weight of their circumstances, hold on to the quiet beauty of life, and to each other. A tender coming-of-age film about love, loss, and the unbreakable bond between siblings.

The book 22 Bahnen by Caroline Wahl is available as an e-book and audiobook on the Goethe-Institut’s digital library.
