Concert of Weinberg Streun

Windcraft returns to its musical nest – Katydata – after a year of forced absence, for three summer days filled with the sound of winds. Changing name and habits for a while, in order to adapt to the new circumstances, this year's seventh edition of the established music festival will include concerts and workshops for children and adults. The Windcraft Music Nest will take place on 6, 7 and 8 August 2021, offering magical moments of musical coexistence in a cosy and safe environment.

Among a line-up of bands from Germany, Greece and Cyprus, is the Berlin-based duo Weinberg Streun, which will perform on Saturday 7 August 2021.

Their performance is an encounter between a classical European instrument, the bass clarinet and the mbira, a traditional instrument from Southern Africa. Together they weave a new musical texture: lively warmth and shiny metallic buzz. The Duo – Joe Weinberg (mbira) and Lutz Streun (bass clarinet), both born in South Africa - draws their inspiration from popular mbira styles, Maqam modes, Jazz of Africa, as well as club beats and classical chamber music from their pulsating home base Berlin. Their music lures you into forgotten dreamscapes to wander, dance and listen deeply.
