Illustrated Talk
Bombay Oblique: The 150-year evolution of Mumbai’s Coastal Road
Kala Ghoda Arts Festival
Architect, photographer and researcher Robert Stephens (Mumbai) will present an illustrated talk which traces the evolution of the controversial coastal road from Arthur Crawford’s self-serving proposal of the 1870s through to American transportation planner Wilbur Smith’s proposal of 1963. The tumultuous and highly-politicised road, slated for completion by 1981, is currently under construction.
