In 2019, the Science Film Festival received over 220 entries and participating festival countries will make their selection over the coming months. All films are translated and synchronized or subtitled into local languages where necessary to offer access without language barriers.
The event takes place internationally in over 20 countries in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
The Science Film Festival in Sri Lanka takes place from the 17. October to the 23. December.
Theme of this Year: Humboldt and the Web of Life
Alexander von Humboldt revolutionized the conception of nature by defining it as an interconnected living web - and in doing so, inspired countless scientists, environmentalists, writers and artists alike. On the 250 Year Anniversary of Humboldt’s birth, we need such a global perspective more than ever. The Science Film Festival 2019 aims to highlight the relevance of this view in the 21st century in regard to environmentalism, climate change and sustainability.
