Sister Library Closing Events

Closing Events | A celebration of women

we are delighted to invite you to the opening of the Franco-German project Sister Libraryat the Colombo Public Library— a collection of feminist books in different languages in form of a travelling library, conceived by indigenous artist aqui Thami, and in collaboration with our local partner Everystory.

After its inspiring journey to multiple locations across Sri Lanka throughout the year, accompanied by a rich program of workshops, performances, talks, and readings, Sister Library now returns to Colombo for its final stop at the Colombo Public Library. Visit Sister Library at Colombo Public Library from 6–30th of November!

About Sister Library

Founded by aqui Thami, Sister Library is an evolving, generative artwork that celebrates women’s contributions to literature, art, and zine culture. It fosters inclusive community engagement and invites deeper reflection on the visual and reading cultures of our time.

The Sister Library at the Colombo Public Library presents a vibrant programme of reading sessions, workshops, and discussions. In addition, film screenings will take place at both the Goethe-Institut and the Alliance Française de Colombo. We warmly invite you to explore the collection and engage with Sister Library in the lobby of the Colombo Public Library from 6 to 30 November.

This project is realised in partnership with EverystorySri Lanka, with the support of the Goethe-Institut, Alliance Française de Colombo, the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and is funded by the Franco-German Cultural Fund.

We warmly look forward to welcoming you and celebrating this remarkable initiative together.
