The Sri Lanka‑born, internationally acclaimed violist Ashan Pillai returns once again to his homeland for two meaningful performances in Colombo and Jaffna, joined by the esteemed Spanish pianist Juan Carlos Cornelles. This concert is presented in collaboration with the Sunshine Collective, a charity whose mission both artists are deeply committed to supporting.

Ashan Pillai has enjoyed a distinguished international career as a musician, recitalist and educator, performing worldwide and holding professorships at leading music institutions. He now specializes in chamber music, as does the respected pianist Juan Carlos Cornelles, who in addition to his international performing and teaching activities is the founder and artistic director of the Festival Lírico y de Música de Cámara ‘Alcossebre en‑Cant’ in Spain.

Together, they dedicate this concert as a fundraiser for The Sunshine Charity, a non‑profit civil society organization supporting vulnerable children in eastern Sri Lanka. Founded in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami, the charity established a day care centre that has since grown into The Sunshine Day Care and Preschool, offering preschool education, uniforms, meals, medical care and community workshops to empower families and promote long‑term wellbeing.

The performance promises an engaging musical journey, showcasing the expressive range and subtle interplay of viola and piano. We warmly invite you to join us for an evening of inspiring music that celebrates both artistic excellence and heartfelt collaboration.

All proceeds from this concert will go directly to The Sunshine Charity.
