Recyled cans tell the story

Goethe-Institut Namibia

In cooperation with local curator, Hildegard Titus, the Goethe-Institut Namibia presents IN CONFLICT - a solo exhibition by JEKONIA NDAKOLA. Based on contemporary politics and friction on the African continent, IN CONFLICT examines issues that many citizens face. From civil wars that displace thousands as refugees to tyrannical figures who focus on enriching themselves through corruption, and consumerism that unknowingly has become the new colonizer of the continent; the exhibition aims to capture it all. Using cans, the artist does not only recycle and reduce pollution but also begs the audience to ask what this culture of consumerism is costing them.
