Hairareb is a well-off and respected elder in his community. Mourning the loss of his first wife and son, his views of love and life have been hardened and worsen when he confronts the fear of losing livestock and other material possessions. A deal with a neighboring farmer to marry a step-daughter in exchange for grassland that could save his livestock complicates matters more, as his new wife’s secret ultimatum of taking control over the land in their community while cheating on him and his of simply marrying her to save his livestock begin to surface.
