The Goethe-Institut Philippinen offers 15 slots in total for theater makers, artists and practitioners to participate in a 7-day workshop with the best-known representatives of Documentary Theater from Germany, Regine Dura and Hans-Werner Kroesinger.

About the Workshop

The DokuTheater Workshop is a collaboration between the Goethe-Institut and renowned German theater makers Regine Dura and Hans-Werner Kroesinger, exploring the process of theater making through archival materials. The workshop encourages theater makers, artists and practitioners to engage and exchange dialogue, community narratives and local histories.

The workshop is in collaboration with Project Space Pilipinas, an independent artist-run initiative and platform based in Lucban, Quezon, Philippines.


Practical Information on Workshop Program:

  • Deadline for applications for the Documentary Theater Workshop: 31 January 2024/ extended until 02 February 2024 at 5pm Manila Time.
  • Announcement of the selected participants: end of February 2024
  • Online preparatory meeting in early March 2024
  • The Workshop will take place from 11-17 March 2024. Workshop location will be in Lucban, Quezon.

  • Workshops with Regine Dura & Hans-Werner Kroesinger
  • Participation in the discursive program on community narratives and local histories
  • Discussions with the working groups on overarching issues
  • Excursions in the community
  • The detailed program of the Documentary Theater Workshop will be announced end of February 2024.

  • Theater maker, artist or practitioner working and based in the Philippines
  • Must have several years of professional experience
  • Must have good or very good English language skills (common working language mainly
  •     English)
  • An accomplished online application form with the following attachments:
  1. A short text (200-300 words) about your motivation to join the workshop in PDF form.
  2. A 2-5 minute video (mp4) summarizing your work and practice – free format. The video must be uploaded on YouTube as a public or unlisted video. The link will be attached to the online application form.
  3. A bionote/CV with link to your website or social media-site in PDF form.
All attachments must not exceed 20MB each. If you think your attachment will exceed, please send us a download link of the file instead.

The application deadline is extended until 02 February 2024, 5pm Manila time. You will receive a confirmation e-mail and the announcement by late February 2024.

*Please note that students are not eligible to apply.

Applicants outside of the National Capital Region (NCR) are highly encouraged to apply. Travel costs for participants will be supported by the Goethe-Institut Philippinen.

The Goethe-Institut Philippinen will also cover the travel costs, accommodation, transfers, and meals during the workshop. Participants will receive a lump-sum fee of PhP 7,000/120,00-€ for travel costs.
