Luisa lives with a group of people with disabilities in a small German town and is in a relationship with Anton. When it is unexpectedly discovered that she is pregnant, the carefully maintained balance of her daily life is thrown into turmoil—because everyone knows that Anton is infertile. Suspicions of sexual abuse arise, and Luisa decides to terminate the pregnancy. When the police are called in to determine whether a crime has been committed, an investigation begins that goes far beyond the question of guilt. It puts Luisa’s autonomy, her relationship with Anton, and the trust within the residential facility to a severe test—and raises fundamental questions about intimacy, care, and the right to a self-determined life, issues that are often overlooked in the day-to-day reality of caregiving.
