Resonanz Part 2: The DJ Lab - November 25-26

The two-day DJ Lab of Resonanz includes a Masterclass and Workshop that's dedicated to fostering cultural and artistic exchange between local and international artists, with female DJs in the electronic music scene. It is hosted by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with Heresy, a Manila-based female curated art and media platform, and 1F Projects, an independent space for music, art, and performance.

We offer15 slots each day to participate in the DJ masterclass and music production workshop.

Day 1 (25 November): DJ Masterclass w/ POLYGONIA

From Layering to FX: Advanced DJ Techniques for Creative Mixing
(Required skill level: intermediate/advanced)

This advanced DJ workshop is perfect for those looking to push their creative limits. To get the most out of the session, it's important that you’re already comfortable with beatmatching and have an organized Rekordbox library. We’ll dive into layering and looping techniques, mixing multiple tracks, and creating new arrangements by focusing on specific elements and frequency ranges. We’ll keep things minimal but impactful, with each workstation featuring reverb and delay FX pedals to enhance your creative expression. While the focus is on techno, we’ll also draw inspiration from other genres, giving you fresh ways to transform existing tracks. Bring your music, your headphones (with a cable), and get ready to craft something truly unique!

Polygonia

POLYGONIA

Polygonia represents a multidisciplinary music and art project conceived by Lindsey Wang from Munich, Germany. Her deep background in acoustic instruments and interest in cultural diversity fuel her artistic process, which she expresses through the medium of electronic music and digital art.

Day 2 (26 November): Music Production w/ Heresy (t33g33 and Joee Mejias)

Shaping Sound: Basic Techniques in Music Production
(Required skill level: beginner/intermediate)

In partnership with Ableton, this workshop is designed to help build your foundation in music production through the Live digital audio workstation. Focused on but not limited to electronic music, we’ll go through the essentials of creating and shaping sound, whether through midi or recording / sampling. We’ll learn how to make rhythmic loops and be able to layer them together while making unique and interesting sonic choices. We’ll also get into some basic plugins and effects, to learn introductory techniques in mixing tracks. This workshop prioritizes queer and femme individuals. Chosen participants will get a free license of the latest Live 12 Intro software for those who are using Windows or Mac computer devices. Bring your laptop and headphones, and get started on your producer journey.
