The Bug's Permission Slip: Insect Dreams at 30fps
Performance Lecture|By Albert Garcia

In this lecture performance, Albert Garcia revisits past works and speculative shifts—from arcade-dance hybrids to insect-led research, from moths in card decks to fireflies flickering on screen. Moving between video, live reconstruction, and memory, he explores how the body is shaped by what captures it: light, lenses, movement, history. Speaking from a space between documentation and dreaming, Albert treats movement as both choreography and survival—of the bug, the migrant, the mediated subject. Images overexpose or vanish; performance mimics nature, yet resists being naturalized. A meditation on ecologies, identity, visibility, and the persistent, strange feeling that maybe, he was once a grasshopper.
About the artist
Albert Garcia
Garcia’s artistic practice navigates the tension between the documented and the undocumented, tracing the fragile imprints of those who move unseen. Through performance, fieldwork, and visual documentation, he explores the disappearing, the overlooked, and the vulnerable, reflecting on the intersections of ecological fragility and human displacement.
