This November to December, we journey across the Philippines to plant seeds of Butoh in our local soil.
Punla at Binhi is a capacity-building initiative and community mapping project that brings Butoh into regional communities through a lecture workshop tour. This is the first national effort of its kind to plant the seeds of Butoh network in the Philippines, and it also serves as the preparatory movement toward the Asia Butoh Gathering 2026.
Led by performance ecologist and butoh dancer Sasa Cabalquinto, Punla at Binhi is a workshop series exploring Butoh as a body practice of transformation and cultural grounding. The tour will also feature excerpts from SISA Reimagined and movement exercises drawn from its creation process.
Each regional workshop is hosted by our community partners that invite and nurture dialogue, embodiment, and community-building through movement.

The workshop is FREE and open to ages 16 and above with no necessary background in Butoh and performing arts.

Sasa Cabalquinto's artistic practice aims to deepen the politics of the body toward personal and collective healing while acknowledging cultural and sociopolitical identities through ancestral remembering, indigenous ritual practices, and decolonial embodiment in the lens of Butoh movement.
