We are honored to host Punla at Binhi in Calbayog City, an introductory Butoh lecture-workshop led by performance ecologist and butoh dancer Sasa Cabalquinto, founder of Kapwa Movement, exploring Butoh’s origins, evolution, and resonance with Philippine cultural and contemporary sensibilities.

This session invites participants to explore Butoh as a body practice of transformation cultivating new ways of moving, remembering, and reconnecting with the body as landscape. Please note: this workshop is not an instructional and codified teaching of a dance "form" or technique. It intends to find resonance between Butoh and Filipino embodied experience, and aims for sharing of a Butoh-informed process and embodied inquiry drawn from years of personal study and immersion in Butoh practice.

The workshop is  FREE and open to ages 16 and above with no necessary background in Butoh and performing arts.

Sasa Cabalquinto's artistic practice aims to deepen the politics of the body toward personal and collective healing while acknowledging cultural and sociopolitical identities through ancestral remembering, indigenous ritual practices, and decolonial embodiment in the lens of Butoh movement.
