Call for Curators

Ramallah Design Week 2026
Launching the First Edition

Ramallah Design Week (RDW) invites visionary curators to shape the inaugural edition of Palestine’s first international design platform, launching in summer 2026. This landmark event will position Palestine as a hub for design innovation, bridging contemporary creativity with the region’s profound cultural heritage.

We seek a curator (individual or team) to develop the artistic and intellectual framework for RDW 2026 – someone who can articulate design’s transformative role in Palestine’s cultural, social, and economic landscape. Through exhibitions, installations, talks, and urban interventions across Ramallah, you will create a dynamic program that connects Palestinian design practices with global discourse while centering local narratives of resilience and innovation.

Ramallah Design Week aims to position Palestine as a hub for innovative design that blends contemporary creativity with the region's rich cultural heritage. This inaugural event will empower Palestinian designers while promoting cultural exchange and global recognition for Palestinian design, fostering a sustainable creative economy. Through design, we seek to articulate Palestine's narrative of resilience, creativity and historical depth while creating networking and international collaboration opportunities for designers.

As the first event of its kind in Palestine, Ramallah Design Week will convene designers, artists, entrepreneurs and cultural leaders from Palestine and worldwide to celebrate and advance Palestinian design. Building on Palestine's profound artistic traditions and vibrant contemporary creativity, the initiative will highlight design's pivotal role in both cultural preservation and economic development. The event will provide a crucial platform for designers to showcase their work, gain visibility and connect with international partners.

Ramallah Design Week (RDW) establishes an annual event celebrating and promoting creativity and design in Palestine. The inaugural 2026 edition will launch what we envision as an enduring platform for creatives to present their work. RDW seeks to cultivate a sustainable creative economy while strengthening shared cultural identity through design education, cultural exchange and entrepreneurship. The program will foster innovation, enable cultural expression and build dynamic professional networks across disciplines.

The event will engage diverse practitioners including architects, designers, engineers, urbanists, cultural institutions and brands, creating vital connections for Palestinian artists and creatives. It will showcase the fusion of traditional and modern design elements within a vibrant atmosphere celebrating Palestinian culture.

Ramallah Design Week is committed to advancing critical thought, creative independence and meaningful collaboration. We particularly encourage proposals reflecting diverse voices and underrepresented perspectives from Palestine and beyond.

Let this be a space where design transcends the visual to become something deeply felt and rigorously examined.

The Ramallah Design Week is part of the project MISHKAL "Perform, Produce, Design" funded by the European Union and managed by the Goethe-Institut and the British Council in Palestine. It aims to support Palestinian cultural entrepreneurs, independent creatives, cultural agents, and artists, including those in more marginalized areas, to build artistic production capacity, networks, and collaborations, and develop markets toward reviving Palestinian cultural heritage, artistic expression, and creative industries.
