The Musical Offering is a monumental late work by Johann Sebastian Bach. Inspired by a theme given to him by King Frederick the Great, Bach composed and dedicated to him this collection of canons, two fugues, and a trio sonata. He explored the fundamental contrapuntal form of the canon to its rigidly amazing possibilities–perhaps more so than any other composer in history. As a result, we are left with music that is not only mind-blowing intellectually, but also mysterious, even philosophical, and beautiful.

Trisdee na Patalung and his friends performed this rare collection of music 22 years ago in Thailand as the humorously named I musicini, after the famed I Musici, at the Somtow Performing Arts Centre, founded by Thai National Artist Somtow Sucharitkul. In this concert, you will hear members of the Bangkok Bach Players perform this beloved work by Johann Sebastian Bach at the Goethe-Institut Thailand.
