The Science Film Festival returns to Thailand for its 22nd edition in 2026. Organized by the Goethe-Institut Thailand in collaboration with the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) and the National Science Museum Thailand (NSM), with Rolls-Royce as key regional partner in Southeast Asia, the festival in Thailand presents 28 films from 10 countries.
The festival will take place from 14 September to 20 December at venues across Thailand, including the National Science Museum Thailand, the Thai Film Archive, Thailand Knowledge Park (TK Park), City Learning Park Nakhon Si Thammarat (CLP), the Center for Science Learning Promotion and Development (Bangkok Planetarium), and Sirindhorn Science Home (SSH). Through the support of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and a nationwide network of 18 Science Centers for Education, the festival will also reach schools and communities across the country. Participating Science Centers for Education are located in Kanchanaburi, Khon Kaen, Lampang, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Sawan, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Pattani, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Phitsanulok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Roi Et, Sa Kaeo, Samut Sakhon, Trang, Ubon Ratchathani, and Yala.
All films will be available with Thai dubbing or subtitles, ensuring broad accessibility for young audiences throughout the country. The 2026 edition focuses on "Artificial Intelligence", exploring how AI is transforming science, education, creativity, work, health, and everyday life. Through documentaries, animations, and short films, the festival encourages children, young people, educators, and families to engage critically with the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence while fostering curiosity, scientific literacy, and informed discussion.
