Goethe-Institut Los Angeles – Job Offer: Language Course Officer
The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is hiring a Language Course Officer.
18-months contract, with opportunity for reappointment. Part-time position = 20 hours/week. Start date is October 15th 2021.
This exciting communications and database administration opportunity with the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is ideal for a motivated, independent, detail- and service-oriented individual who is enthusiastic about the German language. The selected candidate will possess a strong set of communication and administrative office skills, including demonstrated mastery of Excel, Word, and database usage and written communication.
The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. The Goethe-Institut offers German language courses and certification exams for learners of all proficiency levels.
ResponsibilitiesCommunication of course information to students
Coordination of course enrollment, cancellation, withdrawal, evaluations and backend database information
Coordination and dissemination of all calendaring and scheduling for face-face courses at the Goethe-Institut
Administration and delegation of incoming communication
Database management of all face-face course offerings
Creation of documentation for database and communications processes
Data analysis, evaluation, and reporting; document preparation and archiving
Review of all web and publicly disseminated text re: course offerings
Liaison with the regional office
Issuing of certificates and course attendances
Distribution and evaluation of the placement test
Participation in the organization of language courses as well as internal and external audits
RequirementsFlawless written and spoken English and proven German language mastery at B2 level or beyond
Demonstrated mastery of all basic/ intermediate functions of Excel, Word, and Outlook
Demonstrated experience or capacity for quick and seamless training with databases
Proven experience and interest in cultural competency and equity
Background in education, arts, or other course administration; or equivalent experience
Ability to accommodate evening and weekend work during course-start weeks
University degree (BA or higher) or demonstrated professional equivalence
Special expertise and competence in organization; communications background preferred
Customer service experience is desirable
Collaborative Team player able to competently manage workflow to meet time-driven goals
