The Goethe-Institut Boston offers internships to undergraduate students (junior/senior year), graduate students, or recently graduated students.* Interns receive insight into the work of an organization such as the Goethe-Institut, participate in the planning and implementation of cultural programs, and take on tasks in public relations/social media, and German educational outreach departments. Requirements

The following are required in order to qualify for consideration for an internship at the Goethe-Institut Boston:

Excellent German language proficiency and/or German citizenship
good sense of the modern German culture scene (desired)
Interest in educational policy/pedagogical issues
Willingness to work together with students of different age groups
Readiness to work independently/execute routine tasks
Excellent Computer Skills
completed (or on track to complete) university degree in the humanities, linguistics, arts, social sciences, or related degree field at the Bachelor's or Master's level
For those without American citizenship: a valid visa. We currently work with Cultural Vistas to secure visas for interns coming from abroad. *In order to acquire a visa for an internship, interns must either currently be enrolled in a course of study or no more than 12 months post-graduation at the start date of the internship program.

Please note that applications are considered often between 6 months and a year in advance; we can seldom accommodate applications received on short notice.

As housing in the USA and obtaining a visa are associated with considerable costs, we would ask you to consider your financial needs before applying.

The Goethe-Institut Boston requests the following application documents (electronically):

Cover Letter (please indicate the time frame and department for which you are applying)
Letter of recommendation (must be written by a university teacher or lecturer, should not exceed one page, should give a personal impression of your performance and briefly explain why you are suitable for an internship abroad, if applicable)
