At the March German Book Club meeting, we will discuss Bettina Suleiman's Auswilderung (Suhrkamp, 2015. ISBN: 9783518465523, 14,99 €).
For a million dollar project of the UN, Marina, a young expert in sign language, and her mentor Griffin experiment with gorillas, who grow up like humans. But should gorillas have rights too? What would be the consequences? Auswilderung is a keen literary debut about coming of age in times of conditioned egotism. An exciting portrait of the present age - unfathomable, entertaining and mind-expanding.
Kindly RSVP via email to circulation@newyork.goethe.org if you plan to attend.
