Vanessa Vu works as a journalist at ZEIT ONLINE and is one of the most important critical voices of the second generation of the Vietnamese community in Germany. Her journalistic work on racism and inequality has received numerous awards. In 2022, she received the Lessing Prize for Criticism. Vanessa Vu has an extensive academic background in anthropology, international law and Southeast Asian Studies, acquired in Munich, Paris and London. Her highly acclaimedpodcast ‘Rice and Shine’ has brought the stories and perspectives of the Vietnamese diaspora to a wide German-speaking audience.
