“FIRST EARTH, UNCOMPROMISING ECOLOGICAL ARCHITECTURE“ An event in Vietnam Energy Efficiency Building Week 2018

Documentary film
Director: David Sheen
Length: 82 min.

Vietnam Energy Efficiency Network (EEN-Vietnam), with the collaboration of Goethe Institut, operates Vietnam Energy Efficiency Building Week 2018 with the aim at promoting Sustainable Energy Use in Vietnam’s building environment through the phases Design – Building – Operation- End of life cycle.

Following the event framework, the discussion with PhD. Pho Duc Tung is on a movement of house building in traditional way, using soil as the construction material, regenerating old villages and community activities. The practical examples are extracted from the movie “FIRST EARTH, Uncompromising Ecological Architecture“ of the director David Sheen, in 4 different continents.

The movie does not give the building guilds to the audiences, it puts the questions and points out the appropriateness of earthen building in every cultural context, under all socio-economic conditions, from third-world communities to first-world countryside, from Arabian deserts to American urban jungles. In the crisis age of environment, economy and other complex issues, it is necessary to focus on fundamental matter, on food, cloths and shelter; to have a broader and deeper mind in house and family due to both material and spiritual reasons, in personal and social aspects.
