4. Film: Mountain miracle (P)

The German Online Film Week is a cultural event for the broader audiences in Vietnam during the pandemic. In human history pandemics have provided occasions for literature. Telling and listening to stories is a healthy way to overcome isolation and the waiting time until the worst is over, and things get back to normal. Nowadays, films are the popular medium to entertain, to form a social experience and provide fresh food for thought and conversation.

The German Online Film Week is an opportunity for the whole family to come together, cherish the experience of story-telling together and get a valuable topic to talk about. The German films have been respectfully selected for this purpose. They are meant as an invitation to jointly overcome the difficult times we are in.

The Goethe-Institut offers four excellent films on a special platform as video-on-demand. The films are free and available for a whole week after they are released. This time span allows you to freely choose when you want to tune in for your movie night.

We wish this festival to be a meaningful gift to the audience during these days. Of course, more films are to come – either online or hopefully soon again when cinemas can re-open.

For the moment, we invite the audience to the German online Film Festival, starting this Saturday at 8pm and running for four consecutive week.

Amelie is a girl struggling with asthma. She is taken to a clinic in South Tyrol, an autonomous province in northern Italy, to be cured. After some time, she decides to get out of this hell (that’s how she feels about it) and soon she’ll meet a new friend named Bart. Together they try to reach the peak of a mountain where, according to an old custom, she can be healed.

“Amelie rennt” was nominated for the Crystal Bear for the Best Film in the Kplus section of the Generation Competition at Berlin Film Festival 2017. It won “Special Mention” category by juries: “With great wit and fast-paced dialogue, this film describes the development of an unlikely friendship between two fascinating characters”.

The film is available as video on demand until September 24, 2021.
