Almond Bar shows you how it's done

The Goethe-Institut Damascus in Exile project is not only about art and music, talks and discussions – it’s also about culture and… food! We are happy to announce that Sharon Salloum from Syrian restaurant Almond Bar in Darlinghurst has agreed it will be offering two cooking classes at the Goethe-Institut in Sydney.

Sharon Salloum and her sister Carol opened Almond Bar in 2007. Since then, they have served delicious traditional as well as modern Middle Eastern cuisine. Almond Bar has won several awards and been featured on television a number of times.

In 2013, Sharon published her first cook book - Almond Bar - which consists of over 100 recipes, both traditional and modern. The book won her the International Gourmand Award for Best Female Chef Award as well as the Best Middle Eastern Cook Book Award. Sharon’s passion for the food of her culture shines through in each dish she presents.
