Konrad Adenauer is one of the most influential figures in Europe’s post-war history. This special course explores his biography and the political principles that helped shape the path towards European integration. Particular attention is given to Franco-German relations: from reconciliation after the Second World War to the signing of the Élysée Treaty in 1963, the course traces how the close cooperation between Adenauer and Charles de Gaulle became a cornerstone of the European integration process. Combining historical insights with contemporary relevance, the course highlights the enduring significance of this partnership for Europe today.

As part of its Europanetzwerk Deutsch programme, the Goethe-Institut Brussels is pleased to invite you to this special course, which forms part of the series “150 Years of Konrad Adenauer: Shaping Europe and Envisioning the Future”.

Please register by 30 September. To attend this course, participants should have a German language proficiency level of at least B2.
