In 2027, the Goethe-Institut Cyprus will once again be awarding training scholarships for German teachers in Cyprus to take part in selected training programmes offered by the Goethe-Institut in Germany. The programmes are aimed at teachers from all levels of education, as well as trainers and further education providers in the field of German as a foreign language.

These training courses offer the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field of German as a foreign language, to develop methodological and teaching skills, to improve language skills, and to network with colleagues from all over the world.

About the training courses

The 2027 programme includes, amongst other things:

  • Training in methodology and teaching techniques for primary, secondary and adult education
  • Media education
  • Train-the-trainer courses
  • Language courses and language training for German teachers
Who can apply?

Applications are open to teachers in Cyprus who:

  • teach German as a foreign language,
  • teach a subject in German, or
  • are involved in the initial or continuing training of German teachers.

Requirements

Scholarship recipients are expected to:

  • continue to work as teachers or trainers in the future,
  • pass on the knowledge they have acquired to colleagues in Cyprus,
  • have the necessary knowledge of German,
  • attend the entire training programme, and
  • be available for the specified periods.

What is included in the scholarship?

  • Coverage of the costs of the training course
  • Travel allowance
  • Accommodation
  • A daily allowance for breakfast and lunch on training days

Eligibility for Participation

The following persons can participate in the advanced training courses in Germany:
  1. Scholarship holders of the Goethe-Institut. The Goethe-Institut provides around 2-3 scholarships per year for teachers of German in Cyprus to attend the various advanced training courses in Germany.
  2. Grant recipients
    Teachers of German as well as training and further training of teachers of German who finance the seminar price by a grant from an institution in their own country (Erasmus+, Ministry of Education etc.). For details, please contact the Erasmus+ Agency in Cyprus:

  3. Self-payers
