Germany, Spring 1945. Anna, a native of Munich, flees with her 11-year-old son from the bombed-out city to the countryside. They find a new home on the estate of her deceased aunt. Felix discovers a wonderful place right under the attic: a magically sparkling, mysterious glass room in which he can play and get away from the dreary reality of the war. At the same time he finds a new friend, Karry, the son of the local group leader, Feik. Like his father, Karri is a convinced Nazi, who firmly believes in the “Final Victory” – quite different from Felix and his mother, who mainly feel disgust for NS ideology. Nevertheless, Felix falls more and more into the maelstrom of Nazi propaganda, partly because he is proud of his father who is fighting at the front. When the latter unexpectedly shows up one night, Felix is caught in a conflict – because his father has apparently deserted.
