About the centres

The Centres for international Cultural Education at the Goethe-Institutes in Germany create a bridge spanning the entire world.

They make the international perspectives found in cultural education accessible nationwide while at the same time promoting societal cohesion in a multifaceted Germany. Thus it is planned to set up a platform on which a strategic exchange of experiences between institutes promoting cultural education can evolve. This is to be a long term project aiming to combat right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism.

Approaches and aims

The Centres for international Cultural Education are places to encounter others, locations that function as platforms for multifarious kinds of commitment.

The furthering of the concept of democracy and civic engagement and the strengthening of our resilience against racism, anti-Semitism and right-wing extremism make up the core objectives of all the centres.

A central issue is the collaboration with and the support of local partners who are already working proactively in these fields. Such partners, using their worldwide network, bring the Centres for international Cultural Education together with new protagonists, perspectives and ways of working, thus enabling them to operate against a local and international backcloth. In this way, sustainably effective cooperation models and interfaces dealing with cultural education come into being, both at home and abroad.
