at the Night of Science

The Goethe-Institut Finnland and the Department of Language Technology at the University of Helsinki work together in a project that explores whether machines can be trained to take into account cultural diversity when translating texts.

What are the challenges of machine translation and where can it help us in our daily work in-between languages and cultures?

Prof Jörg Tiedemann (University of Helsinki), Maarit Koponen (post-doctoral researcher, University of Helsinki), Päivi Creber (translator, Prime Minister's office) and Alexandra Kellner (translator, Prime Minister's office) will discuss these questions.

In cooperation with the Department of Language Technology at the University of Helsinki and The Finnish Association of Translators and Interpreters (SKTL).

Before this event, the Institut francais (Yrjönkatu 36, Helsinki) holds an introduction event from 5 to 6 pm with the title "What is AI?"
