Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor Photo: Marco Giugliarelli Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor is a Kenyan writer. Her debut novel Dust (Knopf, Granta) was received to global acclaim, and was shortlisted for both the Folio and FT/Oppenheimer Emerging Voices award, and won the TBC Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature, Kenya’s pre-eminent literary prize.

She won the 2003 Caine Prize for African Writing. Her short stories have been published in international literary magazines, including McSweeney's and Chimurenga Chronic. She occasionally dips into work in and lobbying for the arts and creative enterprises in support of the expansion of the African innovation economy. 

Her second novel, The Dragonfly Sea, already receiving rave reviews, was released in March 2019. She is currently at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin working on her third novel whose working title is The Long Decay.
