October saw the launch of the German Career Roadshows - information days for jobs and studies with German.

October saw the launch of the German Career Roadshows. The first one took place at Cardiff University, with over 300 pupils from schools in South Wales attending workshops such as "How to find a career", "How to apply for jobs in Germany" and "Intercultural Awareness Training". The highlight was the visit of the German Ambassador to the United Kingdom Miguel Berger. Participants were able to ask him questions and even win an online language course at the Goethe-Institut London in a raffle at the end.

The second roadshow took place at the Goethe-Institut in Glasgow. Here, too, over 300 pupils and students from the surrounding area were able to take part. They had the opportunity to talk to representatives of German companies and gained insights into their career opportunities with German. In addition, there were talks and workshops on the topic of careers with German with representatives from companies and organisations.

In November, two more roadshows took place at the University of Manchester and Shimna Integrated College in Northern Ireland. In Manchester, the roadshow was opened by Councillor Eamonn O'Brien in front of over 700 participants. In addition to various workshops, the participating pupils and students were able to find out about career opportunities with companies at Career Spotlight Talks and discuss the topic "How can languages benefit your career" in a panel discussion. In Northern Ireland, the roadshow took place at our PASCH school "Shimna Integrated College". A highlight here were the reports from older students about their experiences in German-speaking countries during their practical year as part of their studies at Queen's University Belfast.

We thank everyone for attending and are very much looking forward to next year's German Career Roadshows. On our website you can find more information about the format and download teaching materials on the topic of "careers".
