Kick of the cultural year with us and meet artists Yuka Oyama and Volker Strübing.

Portrait Yuka Oyama Photo: Vanessa Madec Yuka Oyama is the Te Whare Hēra artist in residence. The Japanese/German Berlin based artist Yuka Oyama was born in Tokyo and grew up in Malaysia, Japan, and Indonesia. She sets person and worn object into performance, with the resulting wearable sculptures documented via photography and film, and presented in installations. The results of her most recent project dealing with the theme of home will be part of the "The Language of Things" exhibition at The Dowse Art Museum.

Yuka and Volker will both present a glimpse into their work and their life as artists-in-residence and there will be plenty of opportunity to mingle afterwards.
