Writings-in-Progress

Writings-in-Progress

Writings in Progress brings together artists and writers from Bikol and Germany for a shared exploration of writing, language, translation, and creative incubation. Through place-based encounters, participants will engage in collaborative knowledge exchange, experimentation, and reflection.

About the Project

The Goethe-Institut Philippinen, together with Jaya Jacobo and Kristian Cordero, and in collaboration with Savage Mind, is developing Writings in Progress, a travelling writing workshop in Bikol. The workshop will take place from May 10–17 across Albay and Camarines Sur.

Writings-in-Progress brings together artists and writers from Bikol and Germany—including Jaya Jacobo, Kristian Cordero, Mazlum Nergiz—and a small group of invited participants for a shared exploration of writing, language, translation, creative incubation, and knowledge exchange through place-based encounters. German explorer Fedor Jagor’s Travels in the Philippines (1873), in particular the chapters on Bikol, will be a significant counterpoint to all encounters during the week.
