Paul, a Filipino nurse in Berlin whose brother was killed in Duterte’s drug war, hooks up with David, a former IDF soldier who has just fled Israel. They press record. As they tangle in bed, they discover a shared language of queerness and violence. But as their pillow talk deepens, intimacy fails to redeem brutality, revealing the living remains of wars both ongoing and never-ending.

This 2D iteration of Cris Bringas’ 6DOF VR graduation thesis from the UP Film Institute, produced by Mica Oliveros, reimagines a work originally conceived as an immersive encounter inside a reconstruction of the Berlin apartment where the recording took place, using spatial sound to place the audience within the scene. Built from an actual audio recording, Body Count asks how testimony about war, state violence, grief, and survival can be held without exceeding the limits of consent or turning intimacy into voyeurism.
