Mariupol State University was founded in 1991. Nowadays it houses five faculties and 21 chairs, about 3,200 students study here and about 270 teachers work. The university offers 39 bachelor's degree programs and 31 master's degree programs in humanities, social sciences, law, computer science.
Mariupol State University attaches great importance to the development of international cooperation, about 100 cooperation agreements are implemented with universities, scientific institutions, regional and city administrations, public organizations. Supported by foreign partners, SUM successfully operates the EU Information Center, the Representation of the European Public Law Organization, the Institute of Ukrainian-Greek Friendship, the Center for Gender Research and Education, and the Italian and Polish Cultural Centers.
