Trinity
The realization of the new church was accompanied by the German photographers Joachim Brohm and Valentina Seidel with a series of artistic photographs and condensed into the Trinity art book project. Through their choice of 120 photos Brohm and Seidel elaborate on the difference and overlap of rationality and subjectivity, narrative order and openness, past and present as well as simplicity and complexity and create a clear link to the architecture of Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz. The work group of the new St. Trinitatis church with its motifs of the multilayered context, the building process and the portrait studies of teenagers celebrating their confirmation and craftsmen as well as artists who are developing works for the new church is complemented by photos from further free projects with which Brohm and Seidel have created a complex visual narrative. An accompanying essay was written by Karen Irvine, curator for the Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago.
Joachim Brohm studied communication/photography at the Folkwang School Essen and the Ohio State University, Columbus/Oh, US. Since 1993 professor for photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Numerous individual and group exhibitions in Europe and the US, works in collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Saint Louis Art Museum, Museum Ludwig Cologne, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich. Lives and works in Leipzig.
Valentina Seidel studied from 1994 until 2001 at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, certified as a master student. Project work and exhibitions in Japan, Australia and Europe including the Design-Museum London, Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig, Galerie Fotohof Salzburg. Various monographic publications including ‘Eigenbrot’ Salzburg 2014. Lives and works in Leipzig.

St. Trinitatis – Leipzig
The church consecration in May 2015 marks the end of an odyssey for the community of the Leipzig parish that has lasted for over 70 years. With the construction of the new church, St. Trinitatis has returned to the centre of the city. The architects Ansgar and Benedikt Schulz have precisely developed the new parish church out of the organism of the surrounding city. It obtains its presence through its high church building structure and church tower, but most of all through the inviting openness of the parish courtyard. With its building envelope made of masoned Rochlitz porphyry, the structure acknowledges its region and tradition.
