DIVIDED HEAVENS: 100 YEARS OF KONRAD WOLF

Konrad Wolf is considered one of the most important filmmakers of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). His work, characterized by a profound examination of German history and the present, ranges across subject and genre, including musicals, antifascist films, and stories about the everyday lives of artists, soldiers, and laborers. To mark the centennial of his birth, join us for a city-wide series celebrating his cinematic legacy, featuring films on rare 16mm and 35mm prints from the DEFA Film Library at UMass Amherst.

All films will be screened with English subtitles.
