The German Film Office is pleased to present a screening of the “December” episode from the true crime series ZEIT Verbrechen, with director Mariko Minoguchi and award-winning actor Samuel Benito in person. Please register to attend.
Based on the same-titled true crime podcast published by the German weekly DIE ZEIT, the ZEIT Verbrechen miniseries consists of four hour-long episodes, each of which focuses on a different crime. “December” is the first episode in this series and is based on the podcast episode “110 – Bei Anruf Tod.” ZEIT Verbrechen celebrated its world premiere at the 2024 Berlinale.
As “December” opens, Tim is out clubbing and is having a great time, but the buoyant mood changes when he suddenly loses control. A little later, he is picked up on the street by an ambulance, but the paramedics see no need to take further action. The police also refuse to help Tim home. So the 18-year-old sets off alone. In the middle of the night, he rings on strangers’ doorbells, but they also want to get rid of him as quickly as possible. The police show up again. This time, they take Tim with them and, shortly afterwards, drop him off in the middle of nowhere on a lonely country road. With his strength ebbing away, Tim struggles through the impenetrable darkness.
This event is part of the 2025 “Face to Face with German Films” campaign, which highlights rising stars in the German film world. Director Mariko Minoguchi is one of this year’s ambassadors.
