Concert tour of the German band GOLF

Konzerttournee der deutschen Band GOLF

After the awesome feedback of the past years, another top-class German band was invited to Southeast Asia in 2015, by the Goethe-Institut Vietnam in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Manila.

Golf was founded in the summer of 2014. The band, which consists of Jonathan Heitkämper (drums), Nils Asthoff (bass), André Hörmeyer (vocals) and Wolfgang Petrasch (guitar, keyboard), plays a harmonious mixture of electronic indie and pop music. Within one year, the band managed to secure showcase gigs for big record labels, play at popular festivals such as the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg and the c/o pop Festival in Cologne, and record together with Fotos band member Tom Hessler.

Golf stands out from the crowd of newcomer bands. The fact that it is basically impossible to google them, is no issue. Using everyday objects like vacuum cleaners, loose change, keys and frying pans gives an certain and extravagant something to their music. Their song Ping Pong immediately gets stuck in every ear, and the German lyrics leave room for associations.

The guys presented their new songs in sold-out venues. In Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila, the band played in front a total of 3,300 fans.

Next to the seven concerts, numerous workshops and meetings with students of German were organised at Goethe-Instituts, PASCH partner schools and universities. In the workshops, PASCH students wrote their own songs with German lyrics and added percussion sounds and their own choreographies.
